Stamford Kappas Announce 1st Annual Achievement Gala Honoring Six Deserving Community Leaders.

Stamford, Connecticut –January 9, 2012. Just days after commemorating the 101st Founders Day Anniversary of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, the Stamford Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated, announce a new upcoming landmark event to take place in Fairfield County in March 2012.

Stamford Kappas will host an unforgettable night for attendees including open bar, silent auction, dinner, and dancing at the first annual Achievement Gala fundraising event on March 31st, 2012, set to take place from 8pm in the evening to 1am, at the Stamford Hilton Hotel. The Achievement Gala will honor six notable recipients who have made recognizable strides towards success, while serving as pillars of the community within Fairfield County.

Stamford Alumni Chapter President Jamar Greene says that he, along with the entire organization is looking forward to an exceptional evening honoring deserving individuals while inspiring future generations. “We think it’s important tell good news—to show our community the amazing accomplishments that is achieved by our key community leaders across multiple areas including charitable works, business leadership, community involvement and more. We look forward to announcing the official honorees and award recipient list as well as our plans for the evening’s exciting program later in the next several weeks.”

Proceeds from the gala will benefit Stamford Kappa’s Guide Right Youth Leadership Programs, dedicated to advancing educational and occupational readiness among middle and high school students. Ben Jackson, Guide Right Director, says, “In this new year, we are committed to continue to help guide the youth in the community towards the best possible opportunities for success, by helping them choose an optimal education and future career. Stamford Kappas are dedicated to the missions and purpose of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity Inc. As our fraternity’s founders sought to elevate the goals of black collegians by inspiring them to achieve greatest heights. We too seek to fulfill that purpose in Fairfield County."

About Guide Right: Guide Right is a program for the educational and occupational guidance of youth, primarily inspirational and informational in character. Its reach extends to high schools and colleges alike. Conceived in 1922 by Leon W. Stewart, and suggested at the twelfth Grand Chapter Conclave, Guide Right became the Fraternity's National Service Program. The Stamford Alumni Chapter's Guide Right program currently meets bi-weekly on Thursdays at the Yerwood Center in Stamford, CT from 6:30 - 8:00 PM, and welcomes High School students from the Fairfield County area to come and share with us their goals and aspirations. We share our career paths, schooling, and college preparation.
